Garnets
Density: 3.6 to 4.2 / Hardness: 6.5 – 7.5 / Varieties: Pyrope-dark red, Almandine-dark red, Grossular-all colors, Spassartites-orange-red, Andratite-green to black, Ouvarovite-green.

Garnets are always well crystallized in the form of dodecahedra, trapezohedra.
Transparent to opaque, brown to black, red, orange, green, purple, yellow.
They are found in pegmatites and metamorphic rocks.
Almandines used to mimic ruby were once called “Bohemian garnet”.
