Spinels are extracted on all continents and mainly in Burma, Vietnam, Brazil, Tanzania and Sri Lanka.

Rated at 8/10 on the Mohs scale, its density varies between 3.58 and 3.61, spinel is one of the hardest gemstones with aquamarine, topaz or even garnet. Due to the beauty of its colors, spinel has the particularity of having a high refractive index for a colored stone… comparable to sapphire. As we have seen, spinel comes in a large number of colors. Blue, yellow, pink, red or even green is one of the main reasons why it was so difficult to recognize it without confusing it.
