DESCRIPTION

Welo Opal is mainly composed of Silica and water. Usually white to translucent (sometimes yellowish to brown), it is characterized by its multiple sets of colors (opalescence).

Welo Opal is often hydrophane. Indeed, when it is immersed in water it can become completely translucent and then regain its initial appearance as it dries (the drying process should not be accelerated; it can take several days / weeks).

The hardness of Welo Opals is between 5.5 and 6.5 on the Mohs scale and its density is 1.9 to 2.5. It is a stone that can easily be scratched. It is preferable to avoid, among other things, thermal shocks, chemicals (soap, perfume, etc.) and prolonged exposure to the sun or to a source of heat (lamp, heating, etc.) in order to preserve its colored fires.
